Assistant Grower

As an Assistant Grower at Bosch Berries, you will be joining a team at the forefront of reinventing sustainable agriculture by assisting with the management of growing operations for Bosch Berries’ s 30-acre controlled-environment agriculture facility. The Assistant Grower will work closely with our experienced growers to oversee all aspects of strawberry production within our high-tech greenhouse facility. This role requires a passion for agriculture, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.

These tasks are outlined In the Crop Care Specialist and Packhouse Specialist job description.

What you’ll Do:

• Performs all sorts of plant measurements
• Data analysis of crop, climate and IPM data and modeling production and plant growth
• Maintains up to date records and reports of crop, climate and IPM data
• Assists the grower in the growing process, participates in growing discussions, and is the backup for the grower
• Takes responsibility for the correct execution and monitoring of trials in the greenhouse
• Coordinates with IPM team to manage pest and disease control
• Assists in fertilization, irrigation, and climate control needs
• Coordinates with the team to plan and execute crop work and labor
• Ensures crop work is completed on time and within quality requirements
• Provides support for and adheres to food and health safety standards
• Supports other projects and programs as needed

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or related preferred; or equivalent experience
• 3+ years’ experience in horticulture, agriculture, or related growing experience
• Supervisory and/or team leadership experience a plus
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
• Knowledge of horticultural pests, diseases, and safety standards identification
• Knowledge of Priva software and experience with technical greenhouse systems ideal
• Adaptable and flexible to shift focus and energy when priorities change
• Collaborative and innovative spirit; ability to communicate effectively upwardly and downwardly
• Must be able to fully support the Bosch Berries mission, values, and vision

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

• Must have the ability to adapt to temperature extremes, such as hot and cold. Being comfortable working in temperatures ranging between 36°F and 46°F for extended periods of time in Packhouse to +100°F in the summer in the Greenhouse
• Conditions typically found in a greenhouse with high humidity and varying temperatures (50oF to 99oF) and background noise approaching 70 decibels
• Must have manual dexterity to perform computer skills and operate equipment
• Visual and audio sensory are needed regularly
• Exerting force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly as part of lifting and moving product and equipment
• Bending, stretching, twisting, crouching, grasping, reaching, and lifting above shoulders
• Standing, sitting, and walking for prolonged periods of time may be required
• Ability to work different shifts, nights, and/or weekends as business needs dictate

Pay: $22.50 – $32.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
